sorry we don't all sit on our bums all day, not all of us work in an office- not trying to create an argument, but not everyone has an office job. But you are right see below my rant.
RANT Starts Here It is not always comfortable phoning up people, especially if you don't know them too well, and we avoid things that make us feel uncomfortable.
But the reverse is also true- I don't work in an office, I work from home, but I get so many telemarketers call me during the day it is not funny and is annoying, I prefer the emails if your selling so I can delete it if I wish, or I can click a link for more info and if needed do a google search on it. I also do not like being put on the spot and I don't like being sold to over the phone, and sometimes they have some kind of special deal on, where you have to act now, I ask them to send me some info, but they "can't do that" which is annoying.
Please check my grammar for me, because if that is what your reading and taking in, your missing the point. But I must say my editor took a very very long time to complete his work.
I did buy a big chair so my bum looks small. Rant "sort of" ends here

Slightly going off topic but a possible cause to the problem in email sales

which is why live events will always kick arse over online events (unless you completly screw it up)
Personalised experiences are more valued, which is why I believe trade shows will become increasingly popular in a world of online directories and email marketers and techology based communication, however to stand out from the crowd your marketing strategy must reach out and touch the human customer and give them a personalised experience, from my experience it seems to be scan a name badge to get an email address but not generate a lead(distancing you from the consumer) and the problem with this is that your generating alot of business cards but your not getting enough info to call them up and have a chat without it being a cold call, which people want to avoid, they also rely on banners and plasma screen demo's to get people attention it's like people are doing everything but connect with people on a human level. according to www.bestofshow.com.au only 20% of leads are followed up. and most of those 20% are emails or a post card (yeah yeah I know trade shows have nothing to do with the original topic, but I was just trying to illustrate a point in personalised experiences that I have some experience with myself and trade shows are about personalised human to human sales. and it possibly shine a light on why they do not call (the reason being is they don't know enough info to call because it is more personalised)

It's you again. Oh joy. Better check your grammar. I agree with networker, we DO spend a lot of time on our bums doing exactly what I'm doing now - socialising on line and sending emails to our office neighbours and we are not bothered to either walk into the next office or pick up the phone when we want some action from somebody. We just sit and wait for their email response. I just 'love' it when business colleagues I know send me an e-mail, then ring me to say I sent you an email, have you received it? Why couldn't they have just rung me in the first place to talk about the issue?
