It was a great conference, particularly the sessions on venue contracts, sponsorship documents and the MIE software upgrade information. Great networking, got to meet so many nice Australian Conference Organisers! Looking forward to Hobart in December.

I was unable to attend the 2009 PCO Canberra Conference and I haven't heard anything about. How was it?

nzer - no problem! I'm interested in what the conference organiser suggests as well, do they have any recommendations for pre/post touring in Canberra?

Agree on the War Memorial.. great on many different levels. You can just go and look at the architecture, the setting, the artwork, and of course the big planes. It would have great interest to NZ visitors, most of the conflicts we have been involved with, so has NZ. Going back to the detchment sent over during the Land Wars.

A 'City' of museums, it seems, hahah... Being a bit of a space and science nut, I would recommend the Canberra Space Centre (home of NASA in Australia) - especially when the final launch of the Space Shuttle being only hours away! Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre, is also a bit of fun.

Another favourite of mine is the Australian War Memorial.. Not sure what your thoughts on that would be an New Zealander (although their ANZAC memorials are just as significant) but an interesting way to spend half a day.

If you have access to a vehicle, "Embassy Row" (the part of town where most international embassy's are located) is a gorgeous drive through tree lined streets and mansions galore! You may not be able to see anything particularly cultural, but it's something a little bit different, something you don't see every day. I like to play 'pick the country' by the architecture of the building alone. Some of those establishments are extremely impressive and a site-seeing trip on their own. Security may be a bit tighter these days though, hmmm.

The National Gallery of Australia's Masterpieces from Paris exhibition opens on December 4. Apparently the exhibition showcases 112 Post-Impressionist masterpieces from artists including Van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Cezanne, Seruat and more. Would have to be good for a few hours!

Can anyone suggest any 'must do's' in Canberra (travelling over from NZ a few days before the Conference)?
